Nice summer weather. Cloudy and 66F in morning, 84F and sunny by end of day.
Cucumber and beans are flowering. Nasturiums are blooming. The flowers are super yummy! Single orange hat tomato fruit still not ripe. Remaining magnolia pea plant in east patio garden that an animal kept eating earlier this year is flowering. Raspberries and tomatillos starting to fruit.
Removed most of peas and flowering wasabi radish from southwest garden bed that is next to strawberry bed. I cut the vegetation into smaller pieces and put on west raspberry bed to use as mulch. The wasabi radish was very disappointing. It bolted almost right away and the few that we ate did not taste like wasabi. They tasted like regular radishes.
I kept brussel sprouts, springcolor beets, fernleaf dill, newly planted red spinach, red cabbage, starburst carrots. I am amazed that the starburst carrots are growing in our clay soil. Then I top dressed the bed with a five of compost.
Planted atlas and starburst carrots, easter egg radish, spring color blend beets, mardi gras beans.
Note the volunteer squash growing on the fence behind the garden. There is about a foot behind these garden beds that I mostly planted with flowers and herbs. We also have a lot of volunteer cilantro. Originally there were patio blocks behind these west beds but the blocks attracted aggressive, biting, tiny red ants.
German chamomile is growing well and smells really nice. Picking and drying a couple of flowers every day.
