4/14/23 Asparagus and Rhubarb starting to come up. Daffodils are blooming. Very warm this week.

Perennials are starting to grow

Spring flowers are blooming

Claytonia is growing slowly this year. Overwintered cress has flower buds. Some overwintered carrots in a coldframe.

Put wild ginger pots in front garden surrounded by mix of peat moss, perlite, and sand. So far no sprouting. Pots were left out overwinter to help with stratification of seeds.

Planted patio gardens with seedlings from greenhouse and field peas soaked overnight. Also planted radishes, beets, carrots... in patio garden. Soaked Fenugreek overnight and planted in greenhouse pot. With our warm weather and the greenhouse getting hot it sprouted in 3 days!

Very warm this week. Above freezing at night. Soil temperatures in sunny areas got up to 62F

Harvest. Overwintered rosemary is greening up in cold frame. Some cilantro popping up here and there.

Still mostly winter brown and gray here.

4/7/23 wet and relatively warm, soil temp still cool, pussy willows starting to bloom

Wet and relatively warm. Even at night in unheated greenhouse. Soil Temp still cool. Puddles and soggy ground.

Havested cress, sorrel, cilantro, brocoli/brussel sprout leaves, chives, winter spinach, lettuce, sylvetta arugula, freckles and rouge d'hiver romaine.

Sylvetta arugula, cress, some carrots, freckels and rouge d'hiver romaine planted in fall overwintered in cold frames quite well. Claytonia not very vigorous yet. Of course sorrel comes up every spring. Sage overwintered in open garden. Rhubarb, lemon balm, and other early spring plants coming up. Pussy willows blooming on trail.

Arugula, romaine, chamomile, alyssum, and bok choy are sprouting in greenhouse.
