March 2023 Plants are greening despite 2 heavy snow storms, put up greenhouse.

Indoor tomatoes growing despite our vacation at beginning of this month. Getting some tomatoes but not as prolific as when plants are grown outside. Problem with fungus gnats.

Pussy willows on trail. 2 heavy snow storms, one right after I put up greenhouse. There might have been some lighter ones in between. Daffodils coming up. Sedums, onions, and chamomile are greening. Still snow on the ground. Ground temperature in cold frame off of patio is 42F, so still too cold to plant seeds into it. Greenhouse night temperatures are around 30F.

Oregano and upland cress stayed green all winter in coldframes. The cress is quite bitter. Indoor greens that I planted in old coldframe last week of February before leaving on vacation have survived and the arugula is flowering. Spinach, rouge d'hiver, freckles, claytonia, and sylvetta planted last fall are slowly growing in coldframes. Sorrel and red lettuce (probably bitter) are growing. Volunteer cilantro and claytonia is coming up in cold frames.

Put indoor atlas carrots into greenhouse.

Planted in greenhouse

  • alyssum, hungarian blue poppy, viola sweeties, lavender, german and polish chamomile.
