February Tomatoes

 Visited my cousin in Colorado so didn't do much gardening. Showed her how to grow Soil Sprouts. Tomatoes and pepper are producing fruit.

January 2023 dwarf tomatoes

 Tomatoes flowered and starting to get tomatoes on orange hat and red velvet. Soil sprouts and indoor greens growing good. Very cold outside so nothing from cold frames. There wasn't much left to harvest except oregano and one cress plant so didn't bother insulating the cold frames.

December 2022 dwarf tomatoes

 Started fresh bites pepper and the following dwarf tomato varieties; Dora Red, Cocoa, Red Velvet and Orange Hat tomatoes. Put them on the kitchen shelf and protected them from the cool room with plastic. The LED lights do provide some heat.

December 2022 Soil Sprouts

A good reference for growing soil sprouts is Peter Burke's "Year-Round Indoor Salad Gardening."

I just used coconut coir and everything grew just fine. I planted old seeds and seeds that I collected from the garden. Probably more uneven sprouting especially for the sunflower seeds but it was good enough. I just put them in a kitchen cupboard which was not over the fridge to sprout them and they came up fine. It's nice that regular indoor light will green up the greens. Very easy and tasty. We liked radish sprouts the best.

December 2022 indoor Garden Greens

 Greens and onions grew very well in our 65 F house. Started radish and atlas carrots.

December 2022 outdoor garden and coldframe

 Was still able to harvest romaine, arugula, and carrots out of coldframes this month. Oregano growing fine in cold frame. Kale is very hardy.
