6/3/22 Favorite rhubarb plants growing good

Favorite rhubarb plants from Grandpa are growing good. Brussel sprouts, fern leaf dill, and avalanche beets are growing slowly. Although I did transplant some dill to pots on patio as filler. Daikon radish going to seed. Roots get woody once that happens. Had to tie up asparagus. We have a continuous strong west wind so they want to lean east.

Magnolia pea blossoms are pink! With all the peas blossoming I will have to start looking for peas soon.

Beet tops that I planted after using the beets look like they might be going to seed. Sylvetta arugula has an interesting growing pattern. It's leaves are more toothy and tend to grow flat on the ground. Now it appears to be sending up a leafless flower stalk. Regular arugula grows alternating leaves on a stalk with white flowers on top. So do most mustards and tatsoi.

Finally the wild milkweed from the seeds I planted 2 years in a row are appearing. My nemesis creeping charlie. Much worse than dandelions and thistles. Crawls over and under patio bricks to get into the garden. Will live where trees were taken down and stumps ground out. It is an excellent groundcover but so aggressive. I'm slowly fighting back against by surrounding gardens with flowers and herbs. Also planting sedums where we don't want to mow. Clover in my lawn for the bunnies to try to encourage them to stay out of the garden.
