Double crochet without a foundation chain

Also known as "Extended" or "No chain" DC (double crochet)

Stitch 1

• Ch (chain) 3,  yo (yarn over), insert hook in "v" of 3rd ch from hook
• yo, pull up loop
• yo, pull loop through 1 loop (3 loops on hook)
• complete stitch like normal DC; [yo, pull through 2 loop 2 times]

Stitch 2

•  yo, insert hook in "v" of 1st ch made
• yo, pull loop through ch
• yo, pull loop through 1 loop (3 loops on hook)
• complete stitch like normal DC

Keep going until piece is as long as you want to make it.

Note: I imagine that you could do taller stitches such as TC (triple/treble crochet) just by increasing the number of the initial yo.
