Make a square by decreasing in the center of a row

Basically you chain an odd number of stitches to make 2 sides plus corner. Then when you get to the 3 middle stitches you single crochet (SC) them together to make 1 stitch.

K hook
4 ply lavender yarn

Chain 17 including loop on hook?
Crocheted into the top "v" of foundation row
I crocheted into the front stitch on the odd rows and into the back of the stitch on the even rows.

Chain 15 not including loop on hook.
Row
  1. ch (chain) 1,  6 SC,  3 SC TOG (SC 3 SC together), 6 SC, ch 1 turn
  2. 5 SC, 3 SC TOG, 5 SC, ch 1 turn
  3. 4 sc, 3 sc tog, 4 sc, ch 1 turn
  4. 3 sc, 3sc tog, 3 sc, ch 1 turn
  5. 2 sc, 3 sc tog, 2 sc, ch 1 turn
  6. 1 sc, 3sc tog, 1 sc, ch1 turn
  7. 3 sc tog

My notes. (Which I find easier to read then traditional crochet patterns.)
