Making circles, Chain Ring, Magic Ring/Sliding Loop, and working on one side

3 ways you can start a circle
  1. Chain a ring and work over the ring
  2. Chain a ring and work into the ring
  3. Start with a magic ring or sliding loop
You can work a circle in rows or you can spiral out from the center.

When you work in rows you can stay on one side or turn the piece and work on both sides.

Note how the pattern varies and differs.

Variation 1:
Chain 6 and attach with slip stitch
Work 6 single crochets over the ring
Crochet in "v" of foundation row
Work in rows on one side
Single crochet through both loops

Variation #2
chain 6 and attach with slip stitch
crochet 12 stitches (2 sc in each chain) and attach with slip stitch, chain one
Stay on same side. Do not turn piece.
Then crochet in back loops, 2 sc in one stitch and 1 sc in one stitch pattern

Variation #3
Start with magic ring also know as sliding loop
(Make loop, leave tail. Work stitches into loop, then pull tail to tighten center)
6 sc in sliding loop, then tighten
Work in spiral, so don't slip stitch to make row.
Work in front of stitches.
Can mark first stitch of each section with different color yarn or marker to keep place and count
then 2 stitches in each of the 6 stitches to equal 12 stitches (mark place)
then pattern of 2 stitches in 1 stitch and 1 stitch in one stitch until crochet 18 stitches
then pattern of 2 stitches in 1 stitch and 1 stitch in next 2 stitches until crochet 24 stitches.
